Overview:

The Associate Recruiting and Legal Talent Manager will be responsible for overseeing Associate Recruiting and Legal Talent for the local office. Using their experience and understanding of the legal and competitive market landscape, they will strategically plan and implement department goals and objectives. They will maintain a particular focus on recruiting, staffing, retention, utilization, development, public service, and diversity goals of the firm in order to help the Associates Committee and Recruiting Committee achieve its goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees the legal talent function for the local office, supporting the Associates Committee in the integration, onboarding, training, and development of associates from day one; manages staffing and performance reviews for associates, attorney department initiatives, events, programs, and office budgets to ensure a seamless transition and alignment with the firm's culture and values; additional responsibilities encompass managing and developing junior paralegals in the office.
  2. Oversees the associate recruiting function for the local office, supporting the Recruiting Committee in hiring 1L and 2L summer associates as well as new associates and judicial clerks when applicable; manages all aspects of the Summer Program, including orientation, events, programming, training, and performance management, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience.
  3. Stays abreast of current and pending employment laws, market trends, and competitor recruiting policies; supports strategic initiatives of the firm’s management committees by developing and maintaining relationships with office leadership and recommending changes to enhance the firm's competitive edge.
  4. Builds and maintains strong relationships with firm leaders and industry leaders, including regional law schools; focuses on enhancing the firm's brand and influence by coordinating outreach efforts and engaging with key stakeholders; provides research, analyzes data, and generates reports to support the firm's strategic goals and maintain a robust professional network.
  5. Leads and guides a team that supports the manager and the firm in all endeavors; cultivates team members’ professional growth through mentorship and development opportunities, while efficiently organizing and distributing work to manage workflow and resources effectively, especially during peak periods, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  6. Generates performance evaluations and recommends salary increases, working with Human Capital & Talent to recruit, hire, train, coach, and manage the performance of employees.
  7. Promotes effective work practices, works as a team member, and shows respect for co-workers.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • JD or equivalent preferred

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in legal recruitment or professional services required
  • A minimum two years’ supervisory experience in related field preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent judgement, leadership, and interpersonal skills, including organizing, planning, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and effective interaction with all organizational levels
  • Proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office, database management, and applicant tracking systems, with the ability to conduct thorough analyses and reports
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion

Physical Demands

  • Extensive time using a computer including use of a PC keyboard and mouse or similar data input devices is required.
